Biography
Srabanti received extensive training in Indian classical dances - Kathak and Bharatnatyam
from India from Guru Smt. Sreelekha Mukherjee. Srabanti started her training in dance at the tender age of
2.5 years of age. Even though her training initially started with Kathak few years later Bharatnatyam
was also part of ther training. She has been trained in Lucknow Gharana style of Kathak. She is a Nritya
Prabhakar Degree (Graduate Degree) holder in Kathak from prestigious dance and music institution Prayag Sangeet Samiti based
in Allahabad, India. She continues to enrich her education and knowledge in these dance forms.
She carries over 32 years of experience in Indian classical dances. She has directed, choreographed and performed in
numerous solo/group performances in various prestigious venues in India and US all of which received rave reviews.

Performances
Srabanti has been teaching in the Washington DC metro area since 1996. She has held faculty positions
at the following music and dance institutions in the Washington DC metro area:
- Bharatnatyam Teacher, India
International School, Annandale, VA, 1996-2000 - Kathak Teacher, India School, Bethesda, MD, 2005-2007
She is also a member of Indian Dance Educator's Association (IDEA)
in the Washington DC area.

Besides pursuing
her passion as an Indian classical dancer Srabanti holds Masters Degrees in Electrical Engineering from George Mason
University in Fairfax, VA and Systems Engineering from George Washington University, Washington DC. She is professionally
employed full time as a design engineer at a satellite manufacturing company where she designs embedded systems
for digital hardware used in space applications.
